North Plainfield Latino Coalition

A volunteer community group advocating for the

Latino community in North Plainfield

Dear North Plainfield resident:

We would like to inform you of the existence of the North Plainfield Latino Coalition.
On August 12, 2006 a diverse group of concerned North Plainfield residents established the Coalition with the following goal;

The mission of the NPLC shall be to educate, create, develop and foster civic and political responsibility and leadership among Latinos and other ethnic minority groups in North Plainfield.

In the short existence of the Coalition we have raised funds for High School student scholarships, assisted in multiple Borough events, donated constructions projects and co-hosted civic educational events.

The membership of the organization wishes to invite you to become a member of the coalition, participate in the activities of the coalition, and encourage you to volunteer in North Plainfield’s boards and commissions. We are currently seeking members for various committees within the coalition and look forward to meeting with new residents.

Meetings are generally held the second Sunday of the month at 6pm, at the North Plainfield Rescue Squad building (334 Somerset Street). We encourage you to become a member and participate in the fabric of our community. For more information please contact us below.

OBJECTIVES

1. To pursue the civic rights of the Latino community in general and to seek equitable representation in the Borough of North Plainfield and the State of New  Jersey by providing services such as voter registration and citizen naturalization services.

   2.   To facilitate educational programs that meet the needs and effectiveness of the Latino voters by sponsoring and promoting instruction in the  electoral and government process as well as topics relating to issues affecting the community.

 3.   To encourage networking, volunteering, information sharing and mentoring by creating formal and informal opportunities for interaction among leadership organizations.

 4.   To support the continued success of NPLC through the recruitment of participants, fund-raising, seeking grants, donations, etc.
